Charity initiative – ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM: Men’s Mental Health

    1. Elephant in the Room Art Project:
      • Founder: Brent Pope, an Irish television and media figure, former professional sportsman, and mental health advocate.
      • Purpose: To encourage conversations around mental health by placing elephant sculptures (approximately 4 feet in height and length) decorated by professional artists and well-known Irish celebrities in reception areas and boardrooms of corporations.
      • How It Works:
        • Corporations adopt these elephant sculptures as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.
        • By displaying these art pieces, companies showcase their commitment to mental health awareness.
        • The goal is to normalize discussions about mental health, just as openly as we discuss physical ailments.
      • Impact: The project has gained global attention, with major corporations joining the movement to break the stigma around mental health1.
      • Message: It’s “OK not to feel OK sometimes,” and it’s essential to talk about mental health and seek help when needed.
    2. Head Safe Football (HSF):
      • Focus: HSF is a unique charity that concentrates on football-related brain diseases, particularly Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE).
      • Mission: To raise awareness about the impact of head injuries in football and promote player safety.
      • The Elephant in the Room:
        • CTE is often the “elephant in the room” when discussing football-related brain health.

Remember, talking about mental health is crucial, regardless of age, gender, or status. Let’s continue to break down barriers and support each other in our mental well-being. 🐘💙
